Congress of Mayors Coming January 25th

Visit the MCO website for more information on the Congress of Mayors.

Dear Mayors and Vice-Mayors,

As you know, January 25th the Mayors Council of Oklahoma is convening the state’s third Congress of Mayors. This legislative session will bring Mayors from across Oklahoma to the State Capitol to debate issues facing municipalities. Your participation is vital to the success of this initiative. From this Congress we will present our democratically approved platform to the Governor and State Legislature for consideration. We plan for the State Legislature to clearly hear the unified voice of mayors statewide on critical issues.

The Congress of Mayors is unique from any event sponsored by MCO or the Oklahoma Municipal League, as this will be an actual legislative action by mayors. It will also be without prejudice towards the size of your municipality, meaning “one city one vote.” Unlike other conferences and retreats and thanks to the support of our generous sponsors, there will be no charge or cost to you or your municipality. Any mayor or vice mayor from an Oklahoma municipality can be a recognized delegate; however there will be only one voting delegate per municipality.

We want to reiterate that this is an actual and official legislative action by our delegation of elected officials. As a delegate you will work on the floor of the House of Representatives debating and voting on issues facing municipalities. Your voice on critical issues will be heard by your municipal colleagues and presented to the State Legislature.

We applaud you for your dedication to your community and the State of Oklahoma and we hope to see you January 25th.

Sincerely,
Mike Burdge                                                               Ray Poland
